I have recently come across Halos N Horns Little Book of Holiday Fun and it has made me think about what I used to do at work with the children I looked after at nursery compared to what I do with my own children. I have not done as much as I could especially with Annabelle i think its down to the fact parenting is very much more complicated than looking after other parents children.
Halos N Horns Holiday fun survey was very interesting, 75% of mums say they prefer to spend the holidays playing with their children whilst 60% plan their fun activities before they go ahead and 68% of mums its doing something spontaneous which is the best fun of all!! Do you find that?? I do, i have found if I start cleaning the kitchen, Annabelle walks in looking for food, not because she is hungry because she is bored! So we get out the paints, crayons, gloop(cornflour and water) or waterplay! We have a great time and Annabelle happily plays until she has had enough!!
To help all us parents stay playful and childlike Halos N Horns have updated The Little Book of Holiday Fun which contains some lovely playful games and activities to keep your little ones entertained! Also there are tips on surviving car journeys, family picnics and inspirational ideas for raining days!! We need them don't we?
Halos N Horns asked mums what their toddlers enjoy doing most, the top 2 activities are playing with water and anything messy, the least favourite was family picnics and building sandcastles, this survey shows that Children's favourite activities can be carried out at home!!
Even though children are going back to school and other childcare settings, there is still weekends and late afternoons to spend quality time playing together as that what is so special, memories last forever! Watching and Listening to my dad play with my children teaches me a lot, he always says 'you are so lucky and make the most of them' My sister and I are adults now and he couldn't see us grown up as much as he could as I was 6 years old when my parents divorced, as he has had life experience of looking after young children he knows time really does fly, gosh i've gone very deep :) So I am going to do more with my children and watch them have fun and enjoy their childhood!
Anyway what I am trying to say is even though the book says its for holidays, its not its for special moments you have with your children anytime of the week or weekend!!
